The Connected City Design Challenge: Dallas
Status: Ideas Competition
The Connected City Design Challenge was an international urban design competition floated by the City of Dallas for generating ideas of connecting the Dallas city center to the proposed Trinity Riverfront development. The existing situation saw the core of the city cut off from its riverfront by a series of infrastructure systems like freeways and railway lines. Considering that these were major arteries connecting Dallas to the rest of the U.S., the proposal had to be designed without hampering them.
The design sought to connect the city to the river by a series of pedestrian connections at various points, while also creating new districts and neighborhoods for the city.
